Midlothian Economic Development

Purpose

The focus of Midlothian Economic Development is to promote existing business, enterprise expansion and retention and attract new business development. It is charged with the administration of sales tax to fund economic development projects. The Board directs and coordinates the broad-based expansion of the business and commercial tax base of the city, as well as promotes job growth and quality development in Midlothian. 

Membership

The board is made up of seven members, five of which must reside inside the city limits. All members serve two-year terms. Appointments are made in December.

Meetings are held the third Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. (Due to holidays in January and February, the meetings are moved to the second Monday.)

Application

The City Council's policy is to limit membership to one board/commission at a time in order to provide an opportunity for service and involvement to as many citizens as possible. Training is available to all new appointees.
